Based at the Daresbury Innovation Centre,
instrument design technology is an expanding high
technology company providing mechanical instrumentation
and professional engineering services to the worldwide
scientific community specifically in Synchrotron
Radiation. We are currently looking for:
Project Design Engineer
The position will typically involve the
design of precision optical mechanisms for use within a
UHV (Ultra High Vacuum) environment.
Candidates should hold
a Phd in Physical Sciences preferably a
background in experimental Physics or closely related
Physical science and have experience in 2D & 3D design,
from conceptual design phase. Experience with Linux and
C programming language is also required for
writing custom
EPICS control systems.
The right
candidate could eventually take on the role of Project
Design Engineer; taking a project from enquiry through
to final design, manufacture and commissioning involving
factory acceptance testing using a wide range of
metrology instruments,
typical projects will involve complex ‘opto-mechanical’
precision mechanisms subjected to high heat loads in a
UHV environment. The international nature of the market
means the individual would be required to work overseas
for short periods.
Experience of modern particle accelerator
technologies would be welcome but is not a
pre-requisite.
idt use Solid Works as their principal
