Mechatronics Engineer
The
position will typically involve the design of precision optical
mechanisms for use within a UHV (Ultra High Vacuum) environment.
Candidates should hold a Masters or Bachelors
degree preferably with a background in Mechatronics applied to motion
control or other
closely related topic (Electronic Engineering or Applied Computing) and
have experience in 2D & 3D design, from conceptual design phase.
Experience with C++ & visual basic programming language is also
required for writing custom Lab View applications. The
right candidate could eventually
take on the role of Project Engineer; taking a project from enquiry
through to final design, manufacture and commissioning involving factory acceptance testing using a wide range
of metrology instruments,
typical projects will involve complex ‘opto-mechanical’
precision mechanisms subjected to high heat loads in a UHV environment.
This would most often be
working as part of a project team. The international nature of the market
means the individual would be required to work overseas for short
periods.
Experience of modern particle
accelerator technologies would be welcome but is not a pre-requisite. idt
use Solid Works as their principal design tool formal training will be
given to the right candidate. IDT also
have Lab View – experience & capability in this software is required.
