Product focus: Small KB Mirror System*
Our Small KB Mirror system has completed over a year's successful operation on the
ID5 Microspectroscopy Beamline at the Australian
Synchrotron, Melbourne. Highlights include:
- Sub-micron beam spot size with mirror lengths of 240mm for HFM & VFM
- Striped mirrors with translation mechanism
- Sub-micron RMS spot position stability during multi-hour beam operation
- Actuators with
sub-micron repeatability
- Simple alignment procedure to beamline reference frame
- Simple focus to sub-micron
spot size in minutes
- Repeatable focus parameters after homing drives
- Flexible design to accommodate a range of mirror geometries and hence sample positions
- Helium environment
IDT are pleased to offer this exciting system with:-
- Low cost of ownership & ease of setup
- Various mirror lengths up to a maximum of 320mm
- Multi mirror coatings; Si, Pt, Cr etc
- Helium & high vacuum environments
- Motion control system including EPICS support
See our product datasheet for full details, or contact us for more information.

News Update: SRI 09
Delegates attending the recent SRI conference held in Melbourne, Australia had the opportunity to view two IDT-built
beamlines during a tour of the Australian
Synchrotron:
IDT recently completed the Imaging and Medical beamline with very high heat load slits & filters plus photon stop mechanisms.
The beamline has just
welcomed its first users. See our datasheet
for full details.
With over a year of outstanding operation, ID5-Microspectroscopy beamline
was designed, built & performance demonstrated by IDT. ID5 has
a novel optics layout with a horizontally deflecting cryo-cooled DCM with 2 sets of crystals plus a secondary source aperture (sub-micron accuracy H & V slits). See datasheet for full details of the ID5 beamline optics and performance.
Design Studies
IDT is highly skilled at design studies for new beamlines covering:-
- Optical scheme studies
- Ray tracing
- FEA of optics & systems
- Vacuum schemes
