Product focus: Multi Degree of Freedom Tables
IDT have produced a comprehensive range of experimental table configurations with market-leading performance to meet almost every
application.
Our standard platform 5 degree-of-freedom tables, with excellent sub-micron repeatability, feature:
- Motorised instrument platform with pitch, roll yaw & 2 translations (5 DOF), as installed at ESRF, Canadian Light Source, Petra III & Diamond.
- Natural granite plinth - a low CTE, high stability, vibration damping platform with manual roll, yaw, pitch and motorised X & Z.
- Integrated air pad system for positioning in hutch
- Encoders either standard or retro-fitted
Highlights of standard 5 DOF IDT tables include:
- Sub micron repeatability typically over distances of 100mm
in both vertical & horizontal directions
- 1 & 2.5 tonne load capacity per jack available
- Stiffest guided jacks in the marketplace
IDT also offer customised table solutions with excellent sub-micron repeatability:
- Large experimental tables up to 2.5m x 3m. IDT have installed more than 20 custom tables at Diamond, the Swiss Light Source and Canadian Light Source
- Small sample/experimental table with motorised vertical, horizontal
(2-axis),
pitch & yaw. Installed on I22 at Diamond
& NCD beamline at ALBA
See our product datasheets on
Experimental Tables and Vertical Jacks for full details, or contact us for more information.
News Update: Small KB Mirror Systems*
IDT have recently completed delivery of multiple small KB mirror systems.
One system installed on beamline I18 at Diamond is fully commissioned, and
two systems for the APS will be commissioned
shortly.
Highlights of the IDT KB mirror system include:
- Lower cost of procurement & ownership compared to Bimorph mirror systems
- Sub micron beam spot size with mirror lengths up to 320mm
- Multiple mirror coatings with stripe translation mechanism
- Sub-micron RMS spot position stability during multi-hour beam operation
- Actuators with sub-micron repeatability
- Simple alignment procedure to beam reference frame
- Focus to sub-micron spot size in minutes
- Repeatable focus parameters after homing drives
- Flexible design to accommodate a range of mirror geometries and sample positions
- UHV, vacuum & helium
variants available
See our product datasheet for more information.

Scanning EXAFS DCM

Beamline B18 at Diamond, which includes an IDT designed & built scanning DCM, has recently been featured on Lightsources.org as it welcomes its first users.
The beamline has been praised by users for the quality of the EXAFS data produced. The article can be viewed here.
