IDT have vigorously invested in in-house facilities allowing us to offer a professional test and assembly service to our customers. We have recently moved to our new facility at the Daresbury Innovation Centre which has over 1500 sq feet of dedicated laboratory space.

The assembly facilities & equipment include:-

  • Fully equipped clean assembly and testing areas including a certified Class 1000 clean assembly area  for construction and testing of ultra high vacuum systems

  •  Latest MKS Micro-vision RGA system

  •  Leybold UL200 Leak detector.

  •  Turbex ultrasonic cleaning, rinse and bake-out facilities.

  •  The best in metrology and test equipment including a Newport LAE500 laser autocollimator for dynamic measurement with 0.1 micro radian (0.02 arc sec) resolution.

  •  Encoder readouts for display of sub-arc second encoders.

  • Taylor-Hobson Micro Alignment telescope

  • Kern Nivel Talyvel level system

  •  Motor control test rig for motion control testing (featuring standard stepper motor  and mini-stepping control)

  •  Large granite inspection plate (grade AA) and two anti-vibration Newport breadboard mounting tables for precision metrology testing.

  • IDT developed in-house automated motor control test  software that can control up to 3 motor axes simultaneously and acquire 'on-the-fly' data from autocollimator, digital dial gauge and encoder output for exhaustive motion control testing.

In addition to investing in equipment, of overriding importance  is that IDT retain the services of highly skilled staff with many years experience in both UHV and precision metrology.

Above : IDT product branchline monochromator (BDCM) 3 meter long translation bed showcases a typical set up for our testing facilities. Roll error is extensively measured & used to produce a characteristic calibration profile so that the in-vacuum goniometer stage can be used to remove most of the error in operation via a 'look-up' table.
